Tradition Lives

The years went by
We changed
We grew
The childlike faith no longer new
But Christmas Eve still calls us home
No heart should face this night alone

The table set
The candles glow
A quiet peace the night bestows

The tradition lives
It carries on

Through every year
The same old song
Though innocence has slipped away
The joy of Christmas finds its way

Still we gather
Still we pray!

We tell the tales of nights before
Of shepherds’ watch
The stable door
No longer children
Yet we feel
The hope of love
Eternal, real

The circle holds
the bond is near
A gentle truth returns each year

The tradition lives
It carries on

Through every year
The same old song
Though innocence has slipped away
The joy of Christmas finds its way

And even grown
Our hearts still yearn
For light and peace the world must learn

The past remains
The future calls
But Christmas spirit binds us all

Still we gather
Still we pray!

The tradition lives
It carries on
Through every year
The same old song

The world may change
The years may fly
But Christmas keeps its flame alive
